Game Recap

Solid pitching and timely hitting propelled the Rockford Christian varsity baseball team to its 30th win of the season Monday.

The Royal Lions cruised behind the Truitt brothers, Bryan and Colin, who combined to allow only three hits, while striking out eight and walking only one over seven innings. Older brother Bryan picked up the win in his first outing in over a month. Younger brother Colin picked up his first save of the season.

The home team plated the only run it would need in the third when Alec Powell hit a sacrifice fly to score Nolan Granite. RC added a run in the fourth when Neil Thomas singled, stole second and scored when the left fielder bobbled a single off the bat of Dave Prisby, who led the home team with three hits. McClellan and Luke Joiner added two hits apiece.

Jake McClellan added a two-run single in the sixth when the Royal Lions put the game away. The win improved Rockford Christian to 30-4 heading into Wednesday’s regional semifinal against Belvidere at Belvidere. First pitch is at 430 pm.
