JV Football RC vs GK

We would like to recognize the effort of the Freshman/Sophomore football team last evening.  Although the Royal Lions came up short in a 12 – 6 last minute loss to conference power, Genoa-Kingston, they fought mightily.  Both teams displayed tremendous defensive efforts, as recognized by the fact that there was no score in the game through 3 quarters.  In the 4th quarter, the Cogs broke through with a score; however, the Royal Lions would immediately respond with a Touchdown throw from Noah Kellerman to Connor Cunningham.  After forcing Genoa to punt, the Royal Lions drove deep into Genoa territory, but were held short of a score.  The Cogs would go on to complete a drive for the go ahead score with 19 seconds remaining in the game.  Showing their resiliency, the Royal Lions would respond with a well-executed kickoff return and a long completion to end the game.  Offensively, the Royal Lions were led by Noah Kellerman’s 165 passing yards passing and Jared Frederick’s 82 yards receiving.  Defensively, Matt McMillan led the team with 12 tackles and Spencer Patterson contributed 10 tackles (3 for loss).  The Freshman/Sophomore team now has a record of 3 & 1 and will play next on Monday, September 28th, at North Boone.
