Meet Recap

About half of the Rockford Christian boys cross country team traveled to Walnut, Illinois on Saturday, September 19 to complete in the Bureau Valley Invitational. The squad finished 9th out of 34 schools with 205 runners. Elwmood-Brimfield won the team competition and Brayden Hamblen of Rock Falls took the individual victory running 16:06 over the 3.02 mile course.

Will Mecklenburg (Jr.) lead all Rockford Christian racers with a 41st place finish in a time of 18:13. His 20 second improvement from the 2014 race was made all the more impressive given the muddy and soft course conditions.

Equally impressive was the 1-5 pack split of 24 seconds. Co-captain John Holliday’s (Sr.) 60 second improvement from 2014 resulted in a time of 18:19 and 48th place. Cal Granite (Fr.) was one of three freshmen to earn a varsity letter in the meet. He ran 18:23 and finished in 51st place. Josh Honkamp (Fr.) and Nicholas Capriola (Fr.) rounded out the top 5 in 18:33 and 18:37 respectively.

Team chaplain Grant Fraseen (Sr.) had his best race of the season thus far running 18:51. Tobias McIntosh (So.) also earned his first varsity letter running 19:15 to close the 62 second split on 1 through 7.

Lukas Marshall (Sr.) returned to competition after a nearly 5 week layoff due to injury. He completed the race in a time of 19:24.
