Meet Recap

The Rockford Christian boys cross country team competed in the 2A division for the first time at the First to the Finish Invitational at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, September 12. The 2A field contained 59 teams and 919 runners. The Royal Lions finished 6th with 333 points.

The team had a 94 second split on 5 runners. Nick Monkemeyer led the Royal Lions finishing 6th in a time of 15:02. The rest of the varsity pack was made up of freshman Riley Wells (55th, 16:02), Josiah Vogel (61st, 16:06), Ethan Volk (101st, 16:27), Noah Wells (116th, 16:36), Jack Kurtz (197th, 17:10), and freshman Andy Volk (233rd, 17:22). The top seven overall time of 1:54:45 is also a program record.

The team went 9 for 15 with personal records on the day. Freshmen Nicholas Capriola had the biggest improvement with a 1:48 drop running 17:51.
